TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
The Trinidad and Tobago United Cultural Associational International (TATUCA) would like to invite interested Trinidad and Tobago community organizations within the New York Tri-state area to a meeting on Thursday 28th January 2010 to discuss the possibility of co-hosting the Independence Anniversary Celebrations.
TATUCA was founded in 1962, the same year Trinidad and Tobago attained its Independence and hosted the Independence Dance exclusively until 1998. Thereafter, TATIB and subsequently TATIC hosted the event with TATUCA’s continued involvement.
Due to the current economic crises and dwindling participation, TATIC was unable to host the event in 2009. Recognizing the historic importance of this event, and TATUCA being the forerunner in organizing and hosting this event, the membership took the lead and hosted the 47th Independence Anniversary Celebrations, in order for it not to become a defunct venture.
Most of us Trinbagonians residing outside of Trinidad and Tobago are filled with national pride that is reflected in how we celebrate our heritage and our culture. Many of us have passed this on to our children and we too at TATUCA would like to pass on this legacy. It is for this reason that we are inviting a cross-section of Trinidad and Tobago based groups to become involved and cooperate in making the Independence celebrations in 2010 and all future Independence celebrations memorable, profitable and self sustaining.
Therefore we are inviting you to be part of the planning and implementation process for the Independence celebrations in New York. An initial meeting to get all interested parties together will be held on Thursday 28 January 2010 at: 2233 Nostrand Avenue, 3rd Floor, Brooklyn, New York 11210, from 7:00pm
Kindly RSVP to socaron41@yahoo.com or call 1 347 967 7163 or 646 261 3418 by Tuesday 26th January 2010.
SPONSOR, INVEST, VOLUNTEER, CONTRIBUTE, GIVEBACK
We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Alethea St. Bernard Marshall
